Since the beginning of the negotiation, the parties have closely discussed each issue outlined in the proposal of the Collective Agreement presented by the trade unions and have agreed on more favourable terms regarding overtime and night shift allowances. These agreements currently aim to increase the salaries and wages of site-based 12-hour day and night shift employees by more than 34%. While discussions on other issues continue, the negotiation progress is regrettably showing signs of slowing down and may face further delays at this stage.
Over the past three weeks, we have engaged in discussions regarding improvements to the base salary, meal and transportation allowances, and additional benefits. The parties continue to hold different positions on the base salary increase, and the absence of mutual consensus is resulting in a protracted negotiation process.
As of today, the employer has submitted a final proposal to increase the base salary and address related issues to the Trade Unions. The committees have indicated that additional time is needed to make a decision, leading to a scheduled adjournment until 5 November in accordance with negotiation Ground Rules. The negotiations will resume next Tuesday, when the committees’ decisions will be revisited, and discussions will continue.
Sincerely,
